Mandesa Smith. CNM.
Mandesa Smith, CNM, MSN has always had a passion for women’s health and the well-being of their newborns. Her journey into midwifery began when she learned about the profession during her junior year at North Carolina State University (NCSU). While at NCSU, Mandesa obtained her EMT-Basic and completed her requirements for the honors program and the scholars program. In 2010 she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degrees in Biological Sciences and Plant Biology at NCSU and started the Alternate Entry Nursing Program at East Carolina University (ECU). At ECU she obtained her registered nurse (RN) license in 2011 and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honors Society in 2013. While working on her MSN at ECU Mandesa spent most of her RN career working in labor and delivery. She also obtained experience in the intensive care unit and the antepartum and postpartum unit. In May 2015, Mandesa graduated with her Master of Science (MSN) degree in Nurse-Midwifery.
With her new career as a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Mandesa is looking forward to being able to provide women with the normal physiologic birth they deserve, with the support of the baby+co. team. She also hopes to make a positive impact in her community. In her spare time, Mandesa loves spending time with her husband, family, and her dog Scooby. She also enjoys traveling to different countries and engaging in their culture.
